Chicks are chirping at Tipton care homeHC-One’s Waterside care home in Tipton took part in the Living Eggs ‘Ready to Hatch’ programme this Easter.

Staff and Residents at Waterside nurtured the eggs which hatched eighteen little chicks. The fluffy new Residents have encouraged everyone at Waterside to share memories of raising animals and living on farms.

Waterside’s Maintenance Man who used to breed birds taught the Residents how to take care of and hold the birds correctly. He also explained how the colour of the bird is related to their gender and even made a splint for a little chick that injured his leg.

The experience has been enjoyed by all, Residents at Waterside have loved caring for the chicks and showing their grandchildren when they come to visit.

The chicks will appear in the very special ‘Waterside Making Memories’ film which will be played at Waterside care home on Saturday 21st April as part of their Care Home Open Day celebrations.

Waterside Home Manager Heidi Scott said:

“It’s been a great experience having the chicks in the home, they have brought everyone closer together and helped to create some lovely memories for Residents, their families and the staff at Waterside.”
