Callands care home in Cheshire hosted their very own healthy smoothie service for all.
Loraine Flinn, the Catering Manager, and Mary Durkin, who is the None Clinical Deputy Manager, decided to address the benefits of a health balanced boost for all Residents (even those on a puree diet).
Mary Durkin said, “We send our smoothies into the Lakeside and Coniston units for everyone, even staff, on a regular basis. Residents love to try the different fruits as some they would not eat them as a solid.”
Staff have tried to promote making health and nutrition a priority during the pandemic and have even made special slogans to intrigue more Residents:

One Resident said, “Wow, how healthy does that look”.
Home Manager, Catherine Bezer, said, “I feel that the more we can promote heathy food in this pandemic the healthier and happier Residents and Colleagues will be”.
