Charitable Resident lends a hand on Cupcake DayHC-One’s The Red House care home in Ramsey celebrated the Alzheimer’s Society’s National Cupcake Day on Thursday 14th June.

Residents, staff and visitors came together to raise money and sample delicious cupcakes. Rose Kilby MBE, who has been a Resident at The Red House since 2015 is a dedicated charitable fundraiser was to happy lend a helping hand on the day. 

Rose and her family set up a charity shop in Ramsey which raised over £26,000 that was recently distributed to local doctors’ surgeries, hospitals and care homes including The Red House.

The funds that were donated to HC-One’s The Red House care home were used to purchase two garden sheds in order to increase storage and keep the garden area tidy and accessible to Residents. 

Rose’s charitable efforts resulted in her receiving an MBE, she was also honoured in her local community at a presentation held at the Rainbow Surgery in Ramsey.

The Red House managed to raise a total of £122.26 on Cupcake Day, which will go towards helping Alzheimer’s Society find new treatments and ultimately discover a cure for dementia. Rose made a donation and gifted her cupcake to Keith, the Home Manager at The Red House.

Rose Kilby MBE, a Resident at The Red House commented:

“I like to look after the staff at The Red House as they do such an amazing job of looking after me and the other Residents here.”

The Red House, Home Manager Keith Ware said:

“Rose is a pleasure to spend time with, her kind and giving nature is admirable. She has set a great example and encouraged us to raise a great amount of money for a truly worthwhile cause.”
