Centenarian celebrates milestone birthday at Irvine care homeSusan Mitchell, a Resident at HC-One’s Fullarton care home in Irvine, Aryshire celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday 16th January surrounded by friends, family, fellow Residents, team members and the Lord Provost of Irvine.

Susan, known as Cissy, was born on Church Street in Irvine back in 1920, she worked in Frew’s Pawn Shop and married her husband, Robert in 1941. The couple went on to have two sons and a daughter, Cissy has since been blessed with seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and eight great, great-grandchildren.

Cissy’s favourite pastimes were going to the cinema with her husband and friends or going for long drives in her Reliant Robin, when asked what her secret to a long life is, Cissy said for her it is a good marriage and family life.

To celebrate her special day, Cissy was joined by friends, family and the Lord Provost of Irvine, she was presented with gifts and good wishes along with a telegram from the Queen.
