Florence Power celebrated her 106th birthday on Friday 28th February with her friends, family and the Mayor of Hartlepool at HC-One’s Sheraton Court care home in Hartlepool.
Born in her family home on Derwent Street in 1914, Floss married William Powers in 1934 and owned a local grocery shop called Powers Shop. The couple had one daughter and Floss is now a proud grandmother of three, great-grandmother of four and a great great-grandmother of two.
To celebrate her milestone birthday, the team at Sheraton Court arranged for the Mayor of Hartlepool, Councillor Brenda Loynes and her husband, Dennis Loynes to pay Floss a special visit which was followed by high tea, a ukulele band performance and finished with everyone singing happy birthday as Floss was presented with her cake.
Floss has a wonderful time from start to finish and thanked the team at Sheraton Court and her family for arranging such a lovely day. She cannot believe she is now 106 years old and said that she doesn’t have a secret to living such a long life but believes it could be living a normal happy family life.
Carole Thomson, Home Manager at Sheraton Court said: “I am so pleased we were able to help Floss celebrate such a special birthday, organising memorable events like this for our Residents is an important part of how HC-One provides the kindest care.”
