
Janet Darling, a Resident at HC-One’s Barleystone care home in Falkirk celebrated her 101st birthday on Friday 18th October.
Born in Linlithgow, Janet worked in domestic services at Hopetoun House, she married and had a son named Charles, who migrated to Canada and worked in the police force. Janet used to be a keen ballroom dancer and still loves to watch others perform her favourite dances, the waltz and foxtrot.
When asked what her secret to a long life is, Janet commented that she believes it’s important to work hard, be independent, eat well and stay active. Janet’s more unique advice for a long life is eating a banana each day.
To celebrate her milestone birthday, the team at Barleystone organised a special birthday party with live entertainment from singer, Stevie Durrand and a beautiful ballroom dance performance from local couple, David and Eileen Sharp.
Janet also received a birthday cards, presents, good wishes and a delicious birthday cake, she commented on how lovely it was to celebrate her birthday with so many people.
