Residents, Colleagues and Relatives at HC-One’s
Pennwood Lodge residential, nursing and dementia care home, in Kingswood, celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by holding a celebration lunch followed by an afternoon of fun on 6th June.
The day was planned to originally take place in the home’s garden; however, the typical British weather was certainly not on their side and the party was moved indoors, but this certainly didn’t take away from the fantastic event planned and everyone involved had a great time!
Colleagues organised for an entertainer ‘Earl T’, to perform at the home and sing songs from the 1950s up to the 1980s. Everyone enjoyed the music, with many getting up to dance, with the support of staff.
The lunch served consisted of pulled beef, hotdogs, burgers and salmon served with salad, coleslaw and potato salad. This was followed by the home Chef, Carl’s, creation of the Queen’s lemon trifle. Drinks were on offer as well, including bucks fizz, sherry, wine, beer and soft drinks. Then following on, the afternoon tea consisted of a celebration cake, scones, finger sandwiches, tea and coffee.
Shelia, who lives at Pennwood Lodge, said that she appreciated the work that Colleagues put into the day.
Barry and Graham, who are also Residents, agreed that the music was very good!
Julie, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “Although it was planned to be outside in the garden, we didn’t let the rain dampen our spirts and we quickly turned our lounge into a place fir for a Queen, with a Union Jack theme throughout the home.”
