Over the last few days, Residents at HC-One’s Walsall’s residential and nursing care home,
Ash Grange, have been celebrating International Fajita Day and Indian Independence Day.
On 13th August, Residents enjoyed celebrating Indian Independence Day by listening to some classic Indian music, which was chosen by one of the staff members who comes from an Indian heritage.
The Residents also enjoyed an Indian themed lunch which was cooked by the home’s Chef. Everyone was given the option to have chicken curry with rice or mushroom korma with rice. The Chef also made chapatis and riata to go with the curries.
Overall, it was a successful day where the Residents enjoyed tasting the curries and learning about Indian culture.
The curry certainly went down well, with Resident J Brocklehurst commenting, “That was a lovely meal.”
Home Manager, Danielle Rivers, remarked, “It was nice to see the Residents enjoying themselves and trying new foods.”
Today, to celebrate Tnternational Fajita day, the wellbeing team planned a Fiesta for the Residents.
Everyone dressed up in Mexican attire such as flower crowns and sombreros, and listened and danced to Spanish music. For lunch the Residents enjoyed eating fajitas and eating deep fried ice-cream for dessert which were made by the Chef.
In the afternoon, Residents participated in a Mexican musical instrument jam session, where they enjoyed listening to Spanish music, playing with instruments and having a sing song.
The Residents enjoyed dressing up, and the deep-fried ice-cream best.
Danielle added, “It was a very successful day where the Residents were full of smiles and laughter as they enjoyed having a fiesta.”
