Celebrating a century at Elstree CourtToday over at Elstree Court in East Sussex, who offer nursing and residential care, have had a very special birthday to celebrate. Lilian who is a Resident at the home, has turned 100 today and everybody has been wishing her a very Happy Birthday.

The garden room has been decorated and readied for Lilian to have her cake, listen to some birthday music and receive a card from the Queen. Throughout the day they had been speaking about all the years through Lilian’s life, how different the world once was to what it is now. Also reminiscing over previous birthdays and which were her favourite.

Before the party, the Residents and Colleagues had been playing games and blowing up some more balloons with Lilian to create a nice atmosphere. They also read through 100 years of history to the date, again comparing now to then.

After all of this all of the decorations were put into Lillian’s room, she enjoyed some chocolates and got many cards put around the room. A Colleague mentioned how nice it was for Lilian’s family being allowed to be in attendance for this special day, who also left a heartwarming card for the staff at Elstree, for helping with the day and making it so special.

Residents expressed how lovely it was to see Lilian celebrate her birthday and playing ball games. Lilian said that “The doctor told me that I’m going to reach 100! The room looks really nice, and the cake was delicious!!!”

The home manager has also said “It was fantastic speaking about the differences to how the world was to now”.
