Carntyne care home create a calming oasis for ResidentsTogether with the ideas of Residents and Relatives, the team at HC-One’s Greenfield Park Care Home in Carntyne, Glasgow has created a calming, beautiful oasis for Residents to enjoy no matter what the weather.

The care team reached out to companies in the local community for support and that’s where Roger Foggitt, Marketing Director of Namgrass, immediately expressed an interest.

Roger quickly donated grass flooring, wishing to contribute to the worthy cause and recognising its value for the Residents, which was fitted by Senior Carer Bryan McLaughlin.

Marlene Guthrie kindly painted a beautiful wall mural and, having painted another piece in a neighbouring HC-One home, she was fully aware of what works well and what the Residents would want.

Already, the calming oasis has had a positive effect and has benefited various Residents.

Whenever any signs of stress or anxiety are noticed, they walk to the indoor haven and sit on the garden bench, where they either listen to soft music together or listen to the birds tweeting and the gentle flow of water.

Relatives are also encouraged to use the room whenever they’d like to, whether it’s after a long, hard day at work or just to appreciate the gorgeous artwork and calming interior.

Greenfield Park’s Home Manager, Robert Murray commented:

“This is a beautiful, peaceful and tranquil room that has an immediate calming effect on everyone.

The kind play grass by Namgrass and the realistic artwork by Marlene Guthrie has given our Residents a beautiful room that is adding value to the quality of their lives.”
