The granddaughter of a resident living at
HC-One’s Larchwood care home, in Braintree, Essex has completed a half marathon in recognition of the exceptional care he receives at the home.
Annabel Fisher, whose grandfather Ralph Fisher has been living at the residential dementia care home since 2023, ran the Solihull half marathon on Sunday 11th August in honour of her grandfather and to show appreciation for the care the home provides.
Annabel Fisher, commented:
“Larchwood have helped my family, especially my grandad, Ralph Fisher and nan, Maria, huge amounts.
My grandad receives outstanding care, and for this there will never be enough ‘thank yous’.
Hopefully I can help them continue the amazing work they do for all their residents.”
The event was a huge success and everyone at the home was eager to hear Annabel’s completion time, which was an outstanding 2 hours 24 minutes!
Donna Owen, Care Home Manager at Larchwood, remarked:
“What a great achievement for Annabelle to have completed the half marathon in honour of the home!
We are so grateful that relatives appreciate the care provided so much so that they dedicate their time to complete wonderful things that raise awareness of care homes.
Ralph has lived with us since 2023 and has gone from strength to strength whilst living at the care home. Ralph now has his own mobility scooter that he uses around the home, and this has really benefitted his wellbeing, providing that sense of independence.
We cannot thank Annabel enough for her time and dedication to completing the half marathon.
We love having Ralph at the home and things like this will only spur the team on to keep providing the kindest and best care possible for all of the residents”
