Dingle Meadow care home delights at refurbished memory care unitHC-One’s Dingle Meadow care home was delighted to open their newly refurbished memory care unit for those with dementia, after deciding the area could benefit from a change of scenery – Colleagues decided on the theme of ‘bringing the outside in’.

After being requested by home manager, Emma Cuttress, the welcome refurbishment was approved by senior management at HC-One, and consisted of changes being made to promote a lighter feeling environment.

Harmony trunks with items of reminiscence, as well as new lighting and furniture were brought in, whilst quiet alcoves were introduced to provide comfort for those who enjoy a quieter atmosphere to promote relaxation.

The refurbishment is not completely finished yet, as the home hopes to include sensory stimulants such as bird songs and distinct smells such as freshly cut grass to bring the outside in to the home for residents to enjoy.

Everyone is pleased so far with how the refurbishment has gone so far, with home manager, Emma remarking: “We are so pleased with the refurbishment, bringing aspects of the outdoors into the home will be such a lovely way for residents to reminisce of their favourite gardening experiences, and help to create a calming atmosphere.”
