Care for a target game? More fun from Maple LodgeAnother imaginative game has been created at one of HC-One’s care homes. Maple Lodge care home organised a mathematical orientated target challenge for a number of the Residents.

The aim of the game was to throw a bean bag on the numbers of the target mat. A maths question would then be read out relating to that number as well as something significant to that person. E.g. if a bean bag was thrown on the number 10, a Resident could then say something such as, ‘when I was 10 I lived at…’. These types of games encourage Residents to bring back stored memories and keep the mind active. Plus, the range of both logic and literary questions asked means it can be suitable for all.

Maple Lodge Residents Alice and Joan (pictured) and Eileen took it in turns to throw the beanbag on the numbers.  Alice did very well at the maths questions and she said it is good to get her thinking.

Another one of the Residents said, “It is good to do the maths questions.”

A Maple Lodge Colleague explained, “Residents enjoy this game and seeing if they could get the questions right, it keeps their minds going when adding the scores together”.
