Bringing the funfair to Sussex care homeWith the beautiful sunny weather that the UK has had over the last week, and the government restrictions on gatherings, Oakhill House care home in Horsham decided to bring the funfair to them with a ‘Hook-a-Duck’ challenge for Residents.

Wellbeing Coordinators at the home organised for Residents to take part in the challenge which took place in the secluded courtyard garden on this very hot Friday afternoon – everyone was sure to bring sun cream, hats and plenty of shade.

The afternoon was full of laughter as Residents took it in turns to try and catch one of the floating ducks with a hook.

One Colleague commented, “Those who engaged with this activity clearly found it enjoyable – you only had to see the smiles on their faces - and there was a little friendly rivalry to see who could hook the most ducks in the quickest time”.

Home Manager, Shaun Matthews, observed, “The Residents thoroughly enjoyed this activity. For many they were able to reminisce about their childhood and when they used to do this with their families. It was a wonderful afternoon for everyone involved!”
