At HC-One’s Branston Court Care Home in Staffordshire, a 45-bed nursing and dementia care home, Senior Home Manager, Pauline Gardiner, has won the Dementia Carer Award at the West Midlands Region of the Great British Care Awards which took place on the 5
th November 2022 at the International Conference Centre, Birmingham. Pauline now progresses to the National Finals taking place at the ICC in Birmingham on the 17
th March 2023. In addition, Pauline has been shortlisted for the Dementia Care Manager Award at the National Care Awards 2022.
Pauline has over 40 years’experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents. The nomination for the award is in recognition of her hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion Pauline shows every day to ensure the people she supports, receive the best quality care.
Having worked at Branston House for a number of years, Pauline closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.
Pauline was selected for demonstrating several responsibilities which contribute to the day-to-day running of the care home, ensuring the quality of service provided meets the national care standards. Pauline has worked hard to create a positive working environment and ensuring this atmosphere is always upheld. Pauline’s passion is to strive for good quality and person-centred care for people living with dementia. She not only achieves all of this through HC-One’s policies and procedures, but also through her own networking and research, but most importantly, through talking with people living with dementia by creating a League of Friends for Branston Court for the relatives of the Residents.
Area Director, Heidi Scott, who nominated Pauline for the Dementia Care Manager Award, said:

The National Care Awards consist of 20 awards which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the National Care Awards 2022 takes place at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge on Saturday 26
th November.
