Bishop Auckland Care Home Praised for Outstanding CareHC-One’s Eden House Care Home in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, is celebrating having received a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The team at Eden House Care Home was delighted to have received an impressive CQC report that awarded the home an “Outstanding” grade in the area “Caring”. The report rated Eden House as “Good” overall, demonstrating that the home is providing high standards of care for Residents and is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led.

The CQC’s report was effusive in its praise for staff at Eden House, who were described as ‘polite’, ‘friendly’ and ‘extremely approachable’. The inspectors remarked that the team was ‘extremely motivated’, always looking for innovative ways to provide kind, person-centred care to Residents.

One initiative highlighted in the report is Eden House’s ‘Three Wishes’ project, where staff ask Residents what their three biggest wishes are and then work to make these come true. Wishes that were fulfilled for Residents included picnic excursions and a trip to a motorbike show.

Staff have an extremely good rapport with Residents, which was noted by the CQC in its report. They commented on how staff regularly took the time to start conversations with Residents, and showed genuine affection.

The CQC’s praise was mirrored in comments from Residents and their relatives, who all expressed great happiness with the home. One Resident commented “These girls are amazing and are my friends I love being here”, while a relative remarked “This is an extremely good home, it's the only place I would want my [family member] to be. They are more than accommodating, the staff have a lovely manner.” Eden House was also hailed for the ‘exceptional care and support provided by staff’, with compliments from Residents and relatives including “Thank you for the wonderful love and care”, and “You have all gone over and above the call of duty”.

Eden House’s achievement reflects HC-One’s commitment to being the care provider of choice across its family of homes for individuals looking for the kindest care and support. This is also demonstrated by HC-One achieving a 9.4/10 average rating on carehome.co.uk, the sector’s leading care home comparison website, with Eden House itself achieving a 9.7/10 rating. The high rating shows that HC-One is one of the best companies in the care home sector as rated by service users. HC-One currently also has the highest compliance rating of all independent residential care home providers.
