Bishop Auckland care home enjoys full festive calendarFestivities were in full swing at HC-One’s Bishopsgate Lodge care home in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, throughout December as Residents and team members celebrated with the local community.

To kick of the festive celebrations, Residents were treated to a pantomime production of Oliver, by North East Productions, everyone cheered, booed and sang along to their favourite songs, finishing with a big round of applause for the performers.

On 16th December, Residents welcomed children from York House nursery for their last visit of their weekly visits in 2019, to celebrate, both young and old sang traditional Christmas hymns and songs while enjoying some festive nibbles. Residents presented each child with an early Christmas gift and the children provided a lovely hamper full of seasonal treats for everyone at Bishopsgate Lodge to enjoy.

The next day children from another local nursery, Buddies, visited Residents to perform scenes from the nativity and sing Christmas songs. Residents were delighted to see the children and give them all a gift.

To continue to the festivities, Residents were treated to a puppet show with famous characters including Elvis and Santa Claus, everyone enjoyed singing along to the songs and getting to hold the puppets after the show.

Bishopsgate Lodge Home Manager, Linda Bravey said: “Christmas evokes so many special memories for our Residents and we strive to make the day as special as possible. Bishopsgate Lodge is their home and the day should be as special as any other Christmas they have celebrated.”
