Barnardo’s give back to the community by assisting care homeHC-One’s Cradlehall in Inverness have been preparing for spring with volunteers from Barnardo’s Works project, who frequently visit the home because they are keen to give back to the community.

Each time they visit, they spend time with our Residents on activities such as painting our summerhouse, baking and generally getting to know them.

During their last visit, Barnardo’s helped the Residents prepare the home for spring. They dug and tidied the front entrance and planted hanging baskets with pansies, herbs and honesty seeds.

The Residents loved interacting with the young team and enjoyed helping, which they did by selecting the seeds to plant, commenting:

“It was such a wonderful day and I can’t wait to see all of the different colours when the seeds start to grow.”

Going forward, Cradlehall hopes to develop a walk around the home’s gardens where they hope to encourage Residents, family and staff to get out and about.

Cradlehall’s Home Manager, Elsbeth Russell commented:

“It was amazing to see the young team interacting and engaging with our Residents as well as assisting with our gardening. We are so grateful to Barnardo’s for their continued support and we always look forward to their visit.”
