Autumn celebrations at Uxbridge care homeHC-One’s The Harefield care home in Uxbridge has enjoyed a month of celebrations this October.

On Friday 5th October the home marked the start of the autumn season with their own Harvest Festival, where Residents rolled and plaited bread loaves. Eight Residents entered the ‘best platted loaf competition’. Pearl Keeble was the lucky winner and she received a certificate and sweets.

Harvest Festival is an annual celebration to mark the end of the main harvest season, and a time to give thanks for the crop that has been grown. Traditionally it is a time when people share collected food items with those in need in their local community.

The Harefield also celebrated the 89th birthday of Resident Hannah O’Hanlon, her friends, family, fellow Residents and members of the care team gathered for a day of live entertainment from Clare Barnes followed by birthday cake and refreshments. Hannah commented that she had a lovely day with all of her nearest and dearest.
