Ashton View Resident proves he’s quite the handymanColleagues at Ashton View Care Home in Wigan have launched a new initiative to get the male Residents in the home more involved with activities they enjoy doing.

After lots of chat’s they found that one Resident, Jimmy, really enjoyed woodwork and making things from scratch. Gary, wellbeing coordinator then came up with a plan to use an old bed frame and get Jimmy to upcycle it into a lovely raised flower bed for the garden.

Jimmy lives with Dementia and often struggles to find things that keep him stimulated but he greatly enjoyed this activity and smiled all day.

Home Manager, Christopher Millington commented:

“This small but meaningful activity for Jimmy meant the world to him and made him feel like he had contributed to the home. Gary is doing fantastically well with the Residents in making them feel included.”
