Ashton Grange care home in Sunderland was delighted to take part in a new initiative at the Beacon of Light, which gave Residents the opportunity to interact with nursery children and meet some star Sunderland football players.
Residents enjoyed spending their afternoon reading books and playing dominoes, shuffle board, bowls and table tennis with the children.
After the games came to an end, Residents even got the chance to meet Sunderland football players Duncan Watmore and Tom Flannagan from the League One team.
Ethel Donkin, a Resident at Ashton Grange, said: “What a fantastic day that was! I can’t wait to tell my family all about it.”
Lesley Dawson, Home Manager, said: “It’s an honour for Ashton Grange to be chosen as part of this initiative to bring people from the local community closer together. Our Residents loved the day, and were even more thrilled to meet the Sunderland footballers.”
