Residents and relatives at HC-One’s Daisy Nook Care Home in Ashton-under-Lyne enjoyed a fun visit to Cocksfield Farm.
Their trip to Cocksfield Farm in Ashton was hugely enjoyable as Residents had the opportunity to walk around to interact with and feed the animals including, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Baby Chicks, Ducklings, Baby Goats, and Pygmy Hedgehogs. Residents also had the exciting opportunity to feed and stroke the animals. The day was finished off with a nice cup of coffee in the centre’s coffee shop. The trip out was a huge success, and the Residents really enjoyed themselves. The staff at Daisy Nook Care Home are keen to organise a similar trip in the future.
HC-One’s Daisy Nook Care Home Manager, Orla Adamson, said: “It was great to see Residents having fun interacting with the animals. Residents had a great day and we hope to organise another trip to Cocksfield Farm in the future.”
It’s hard to imagine a sack of potatoes could lead to Cockfield’s Farm becoming one of the North West’s leading aquatic stores from selling potatoes at the front gate in 1966, to fruit and vegetables in part of the chicken shed and, in 1999 selling a few goldfish. This then led on to selling tropical fish and, in 2004, marine fish and corals. They have recently opened the petting farm which has grown year on year and introduced their cafĂ© selling home cooked food as well as a range of delicious cakes and coffee.
HC-One’s Area Director, Bridget El-Mokhtari, said: “Providing fun and enjoyable activities like this one is an important part of HC-One providing the kindest care. I am delighted that everyone enjoyed themselves.”
