Art extravaganza as Sabourn Court celebrates Care Home Open DayHC-One’s Sabourn Court care home in Leeds opened its doors to the local community as it celebrated the seventh national Care Home Open Day.

The nation-wide event gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care’, with HC-One launching a national art competition for Residents and visitors to the home. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy, pottery and more.

Residents were joined by loved ones as they enjoyed an afternoon of exciting activities, including live music, fairground-themed games, a photo booth, raffle and the HC-One art competition.

Everyone joined together to enjoy an afternoon tea as guests made the most of the beautiful sunny weather.

Sabourn Court was also delighted to have raised a fantastic £225 for the Residents’ fund.

One Resident commented: “I loved our open day. It was nice to see so many people enjoying the activities and there were lots of happy faces around the home.”

Lisa Lyndley-Jones, Home Manager at Sabourn Court, said: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to celebrate our Care Home Open Day along with our Residents’ nearest and dearest. A great day was had by all and we can’t wait to host more events with the local community in the future.”
