Arsenal fan receives belated Valentine’s Day surprise at Hayes care homeJohn Martin, a Resident HC-One’s Aston House care home in Hayes received a belated special Valentine’s Day gift from the team.

John, aged 77 has been a Resident at Aston House for over two years, he has had difficulty settling into the home and participating in some activities due to his health. Wellbeing Coordinator, Laura organises regular one to one time for John where he likes to talk and sometimes, play chess.

Aston House hosted a Valentine’s Day party for Residents, family and friends which John was unable to attend, so Laura decided to organise a special Valentine’s Day celebration just for John.

The team helped John get dressed and assisted him to the lounge where he received his very own Arsenal hat, scarf and calendar, as a big fan of the club it was a very thoughtful gift which made John smile. When asked if it was worth getting up and dressed for, John said that Laura was an angel, which warmed the hearts of the all of the team at Aston House.

Aston House Wellbeing Coordinator, Laura Baumane commented:

“At Aston House we believe in going above and beyond to provide the best the physical and mental wellbeing of each Resident, this helps us all to build strong relationships.

“Seeing the smile on John’s face was such a special moment for myself and my Colleagues and I am now in discussions with Arsenal Football Club to try and organise for John to visit the stadium.”

HC-One Area Director, Donna Daley said:

“It is wonderful to hear about John’s special Valentine’s Day gifts! Organising memorable events like this is an important part of how HC-One provides the kindest care.”
