On Saturday, Colleagues and Residents at Skellingthorpe’s
White Gables residential memory and nursing memory care home, celebrated Armed Forces Day.
This was also the first opportunity for the home to have outside entertainment for more than one year, due to the pandemic. It was a pleasure for everyone to have vintage singer Melody Flyte sing in the courtyard garden of the home to an eager audience.
As usual, with the British summer weather being quite nippy, there were plenty of coats and blankets provided, but this did not detract from the pleasure of hearing such moving and beautifully sung songs from the 1940s.
After a hauntingly beautiful finale of ‘We’ll Meet Again’, everyone returned indoors for a fabulous street party style buffet laid on by the kitchen staff.
Michelle Tuck, Care Home Manager, remarked, “It was a lovely day and hopefully one of many more similar events to come through the coming year.”
