Armed Forces Day celebrations at Guisborough care homeResidents at HC-One’s Park House care home in Guisborough took part in Armed Forces Day celebrations recently, as well as singing tributes to the late Vera Lynn.

Tracy, Park House wellbeing coordinator started off by leading the singalong of songs from Vera Lynn which the Residents all knew and sang really well, some of them wanted to do a little solo on the microphone.

The kitchen team at Park House then made everyone lovely Armed Forces Day themed sugar cakes which were enjoyed by all before staying for a song with everyone in the lounge.

Guy Upward, the Director General for the Royal British Legion had made a wonderful speech about Vera Lynn. Guy had worked with her and knew her personally, and Colleagues at Park House were lucky enough to be provided with a copy of the speech, which they read out to Residents.

At the end of the afternoon, Park House paid tribute to our Armed Forces, past and present and raised their glasses as a toast to them and the future servicemen and women who will protect and serve this country.

Julie Woods, Park House Home Manager said: “It was lovely to still be able to celebrate our Armed Forces, especially with current restrictions.”
