April Activities at Sheffield care homeThis month at April Park in Sheffield, which provides residential care, several different events and activities have been taking place which Residents have enjoyed.

At the beginning of the month, Residents and Colleagues held a cake sale for Red Nose Day to raise funds for comic relief. They raised a grand total of £65!

Residents enjoyed a quiz, tea and coffee and also a nice range of different cakes. There was a cupcake sweepstake with the winner getting a beautiful bouquet of flowers. One Resident said, “We love helping for a good cause, the cake is just a bonus!” Other Residents explained how they loved having coffee mornings and even more so when they are fundraising ones.

Later in the month, when the Grand National was on, Residents all picked out their horses from a hat. Everybody was looking forward to watching the races and cheering their horse on.

It was a very close finish and Monica, a Resident at April Park was over the moon when her horse, “Noble Yates” won, followed by “any second now” who was one of the Carer Colleagues, Shandell’s horse.

Towards the end of the month, Wellbeing Colleagues had brought in some caterpillars for Residents to raise and let them transform into butterflies. They were released into the garden in hopes they might live in the garden.
One Resident said, “I can’t believe how big these butterflies have grown!” while others commented on how amazing it was to raise them and see the transformation into butterflies.

Christine, the Home Manager said, “It was wonderful seeing the Residents in such high spirits, everybody did a fab job with the red nose day fundraiser and they really enjoyed releasing the butterflies”.
