Residents at HC-One’s Balcarres care home in Broughty Ferry, Dundee have enjoyed a cruise around the world with special themed activities from different countries.
Team members at Balcarres provided Residents with their own passport and boarding passes to come on a two-week cruise from the comfort of their own home. Various activities were arranged throughout the two weeks to symbolise visits to different countries, including, making pizzas, Greek salads, crepes and sangria as well as dancing to traditional music and taking part themed word searches and quizzes.
Everyone got in the spirit for the two-week cruise, team members dressed in traditional clothing from each country and Residents shared memories of visiting the different countries in their younger years. Edna, who used to be a French teacher sang the French national anthem for her fellow Residents and team members which received a huge round of applause.
Balcarres Home Manager, Lynn McLean said: “What a wonderful idea! It’s been great to explore different cultures and cuisines and see everyone get in the spirit of our very own Balcarres world cruise.”
