This month at
Adelaide House in Surrey, which provides residential and nursing care, Residents had a special visit from a furry friend.
Bella, a Chihuahua crossed with a Yorkshire terrier made an appearance at Adelaide House which was well received by everybody in the care home. She absolutely adores cuddles and kisses, which Residents (and staff!) were more than happy to give her. Bella had grown up in nursing homes and loves the company of others, and of course the attention and snacks that come with it!
Teena, the Wellbeing Coordinator took her around to all of the Residents and ensured everybody got their fair share of cuddles and snuggles. Bella visits on quite a regular basis, which has become quite a popular day among the Residents, whilst also following infection control procedures between each stroke.
Speaking with some of the Residents afterwards, they all commented on how tiny and well-behaved Bella was, with one Resident saying, “I used to breed big dogs, this one is a one breed to me, but still very lovable”. Other Residents also said how much they enjoyed just having animals back in the building and being able to cuddle something so small.
Kate, the Home Manager commented, “It was lovely to see the Residents enjoying animals and interacting with them”.
