Aberdeen care home introduces chair-based yoga sessionsResidents can now align their chakras at HC-One’s Hamewith Lodge care home in Aberdeen with the help of Wellbeing Coordinator, Andrew Bruce who recently completed a chair-based yoga instructor course.

Andrew attended a course which has provided helpful insight into the benefits of chair-based yoga for older people, basic meditation principals, chair-based yoga asana adaptations and chair-based yoga flows/sequences.

To utilise his newly developed skill Andrew is developing a chair-based yoga programme for Residents at Hamewith Lodge as a way of encouraging light exercise and promoting wellbeing through relaxation and mediation techniques.

Residents are very interested in the sound of the new yoga classes and are looking forward to getting started with the classes as soon as possible.

Susan Ashton, Hamewith Lodge Home Manager said: “It’s wonderful that Andrew has completed this course and we are looking forward to seeing how the chair-based yoga can help our Residents.”
