A VIP visit to watch Mossley AFCWhen Resident David from HC-One’s Sandon House care home, in Mossley, was invited to a game at his local football club, he jumped at the chance of being a VIP for the day!

Being a huge football fan and supporter of Mossley AFC, the chairman of the club invited David to the game against Prescot Cables as a special guest, as he heard David was staying at Sandon house (which is situated just over the road from the club!)

David was accompanied by Wellbeing Coordinator Louise Schofield to the game which took place on 22nd October. Upon arriving, David was greeted by the chairman (pictured) and even got chatting to his friends, who he had not seen in a while.

David, who used to play for the club when he was younger, bought his programme before the game and enjoyed half a pint of bitter whilst watching, he reminisced of how he always had bitter when he was at the club back in the day.

The team went on to win 2-1.

The club said they would like to have more involvement with the 42-bed residential and residential dementia care home, so have invited the Residents to all the home matches as special guests!

David remarked, “I feel like a VIP!”

Louise said, “Football is such a big passion of David's. I feel it is important to keep that alive. The smile on his face says it all.”
