It was a day of indulging in delicious food and drink while admiring beautiful views in the sunshine for Residents at HC-One’s
Fir Trees care home, Dukinfield, Tameside, as a lovely trip to Holmfirth was on the cards.
Colleagues Lauren Farmey and Karolina Kubach took Residents John Mitche and couple, Eddie and Edna Watson, for a trip to Holmfirth, which is around a 30-minute drive from the 44-bed residential and residential dementia care home.
Eddie and Edna used to travel there regularly when they were younger, so it was a great opportunity to bring back some memories as they told stories from their time there.
The group went to the ‘Old Bridge Pub’ and all three Residents enjoyed a half of larger together while chatting. Edna was telling everyone that once they came here with couple of friends and she had 22 halves of larger!
John also talked about coming to Holmfirth for a night out with his late wife. He also started singing and all the people sat around Residents and Colleagues in the pub really enjoyed it, and gave him a clap after he finished, he was very proud.
After the pub, it was time for a delicious lunch at the ‘Compos Chippy’ where they had some fish and chips and meat pie. They then drove to the tops to look at views while eating the lunch, the weather was beautiful.
All three Residents loved going out, and they all said it was nice to bring back the memories.
Eddie commented, “I’ve had a great day and I’m glad my wife was there with me, can’t wait to do it all again!”
Karolina said, “We all had a fantastic day filled with memories and laughter. It’s so nice to see our Residents enjoying themselves.”
