A surprise garden visitor and staying in touch at Avon Court homeThis week has been a very busy one at HC-One’s Avon Court care home, in Chippenham with a rather unusual visitor to the home and a creative way of staying in touch with loved ones.

Firstly, a pheasant was pecking at the dining room door on 1st December; much to the amusement of Colleagues and Residents alike. Wellbeing Coordinator, Lyn Neate, gave him some bird seed (much to his delight!) He hung around all day and even let Lyn stroke him!

Several Residents jokingly that ‘Christmas dinner has come early!’

Residents Joyce and Mary said he was lovely and couldn’t believe how tame he was!

Another story coming from the care home this week, is from a creative activity that was held. Residents enjoyed making Christmas cards, coasters and keyrings which will be sent to family members and loved ones over the festive period.

Resident Pamela enjoyed cutting out the pictures for the coasters, she said, “What a lovely thing to do!”

Mary also added, “My children will be pleased.”
