A hole in one! Hayes care home makes Resident’s wish comes trueThe team at HC-One’s Aston House care home in Hayes made a Resident’s wish come true when they organised for Brian to visit his former golf club.

Brian Perkins who has been a Resident at Aston House for over two years had a successful career with over thirty years as Managing Director of Panamerican Airlines.

In his spare time Brian pursued his passion for golf, he was an active member of Sandy Lodge Golf Club in Northwood where he won trophies, supported junior golfers, organised weekly swindle games.

When Laura Baumane, Wellbeing Co-ordinator at Aston House discovered Brian’s love for golf she decided to contact Sandy Lodge Golf Club to arrange for Brian to spend an afternoon with his friends like he used to in the good old days.

The Golf Club extended an invitation for Brian to visit on Friday 8th June, on the day Wellbeing Co-ordinator Laura and Home Manager Mevin accompanied Brian to Sandy Lodge where they were greeted by Brian’s dear friend Ken.

Brian enjoyed catching up with old friends and fellow players before heading on a spin round the course with Ken reminiscing about travels, playoffs and games they shared together.

After the tour of the course, Brian held a golf club for the first time in years, it was a special moment for everyone with Brian’s friends commenting on how great it was to see him holding a club again.

The day was ended on a high note with everyone having a beer and some custard crème biscuits, which are Brian’s favourite.

Aston House Home Manager, Mevin Sohorye said:

“It was an incredibly touching and unforgettable experience to accompany Brian to a place that means so much to him.

The team at Aston House have all noticed the amazing impact this gesture has had on Brian’s wellbeing and we are all looking for ways to make more of our Resident’s dreams and wishes come true.”
