A D-Day Hero at Berry Hill Park
Berry Hill park took the time to recognise Resident Eric for remembrance sunday. Eric Parsons was a former Private of the Somerset Light Infantry, 7th Battalion.

Eric took part in the D-Day landing at Normandy and he is proudly displaying his many medals, in his special case.  The medal Eric is wearing was presented from the French Embassy, appointing him to the rank of ‘Chevalier’  in the ‘Ordre national de la Legion d’honneur’ in recognition of his efforts in liberating France during the Second World War.

At 96, Eric remains a very humble man and he lost five close friends in the war; Eric laments that the real heroes are ‘the lads that didn’t come home’.
