For Residents at Himley Mill care home, the first couple of weeks in December have been jam packed full of festivities and the home really has turned into a winter wonderland!
Firstly, Colleagues organised a Christmas hamper to raise money for the Residents fund. Jayne Mills, who works at the home, sorted the prizes with first prize being a food hamper, second prize was an alcohol hamper, and third prize was a beauty hamper.
Jayne said that, “This hamper has really kept staff morale high!”
Some Christmas craft activities have also been put on by the home, such as hand painting a Christmas tree, see pictured left. Residents and Colleagues took it in turns to print their hand onto the paper to make it in the shape of a Christmas tree. They loved getting messy!
One Resident said, “It is a lovely idea and looks good!”
Then there was also something put on by the home that everyone looks forward to, the Christmas party for the Willows unit. Today a buffet lunch was serves as well as an alcoholic drink of choice with Christmas music being played,
The wellbeing team commented, “It was nice to see Residents wearing their Christmas jumpers, sitting in the pub and singing along to the music!”
Last but not least, we must talk about the decorations at Himley Mill care home this week. The home’s gardens were decorated with multiple Christmas trees and twinkly lights which were leading through the grounds and into the sensory garden to the ‘Winter Wonderland’. It really is beautiful and one Resident agreed saying, “This has me feeling so Christmassy!”
We can’t wait to see what else comes from the home in the coming days, they are certainly well and truly in the festive spirit!
