Residents and Colleagues at HC-One’s
Daneside Court care home, in Northwich, Cheshire, have all enjoyed an array of activities to mark the Chinese New Year.
Activities at the 64-bed residential and nursing care home included reading fortune cookies, which where gifted from the local ‘After Five Chinese Takeaway’ and having a go at using some chopsticks.
Betty Hunter, who lives at the home, tried her hand with the chopsticks and found it very funny when she managed to pick up one piece of pineapple!
The Wellbeing Coordinators got busy with the décor, which included the Residents’ arts and crafts on display, which were created in an activity session in preparation for the big event.
Residents also enjoyed an incredibly scrumptious Chinese themed dining experience, provided by the home’s Head Chef, Reagan Ocado, Cook Dan Hui and the team. On the menu was sweet and sour chicken, egg-fried rice, spicy pork balls and Sichuan crispy fried pork. Everyone commented that the Chinese-themed buffet was simply delicious, the sweet and sour dish, in particular, was extremely popular.
Margaret Hathaway, who is a Resident, said, “The meal was very tasty and I fully enjoyed it!”
Wellbeing Coordinator Sharon Lelonek, commented, “The evening was just perfect, with the Residents fully loving their meals, the ambiance was great! There was laughter whilst the Residents tried the chopsticks and so much eagerness to sample the authentic delights.”
