93rd birthday Skype celebrations at Spennymoor care homeResidents at HC-One’s Lothian House care home in Spennymoor have celebrated one of their friend’s birthday as she turned 93 this month.

Joyce Murray, 93, celebrated her special day on 19th June amongst staff and her fellow Residents at Lothian House and even had a video call with some members of her family thanks to the home wellbeing coordinator.

Our wellbeing coordinator at Lothian House made sure Joyce could celebrated her birthday with her daughter over video call and it was such a special moment. Joyce’s daughters bought her a lovely birthday balloon, card and presents that were delivered to the home and staff sang Happy Birthday to her whilst they were all on video call together opening her surprises.

A delivery then arrived from Joyce off one of her granddaughters, a beautiful bouquet of flowers to sit along side her cards in presents in her room.

“Thank you everyone for the lovely birthday wishes, I have loved being spoiled,” joked Joyce.

“It was a lovely day, even if I could see my daughters and granddaughters in person.”

It has been important over these past few months for Residents to properly celebrate their birthdays and getting as many members of their family involved as possible.

Jill Morton-Carr, Lothian House Home Manager said: “It was lovely to see Joyce's face light up when she saw her daughters on Skype.”
