91-year-old Resident’s emotional visit from 7-year-old ‘best friend’Two unlikely best friends meet each other for the first time when 7-year-old Freddie paid a visit to 91-year-old Ethel ‘Van’ Chester at HC-One’s St Peter’s Court Care Home in Redcar.

Freddie waves to Van every morning and evening on his way to and from Zetland Primary School.

Van looks forward to seeing Freddie’s smiling face every day and she always comments that she misses seeing him at the weekend.

Emotions ran high when Freddie and his mum visited St Peter’s Court especially to see Van and brought some flowers for her, which Freddie paid for out of his own pocket money.

The visit meant a lot to Van and made the other Residents smile, it even moved a few of them to tears. Freddie has promised Van that he will visit her regularly.

Van commented:

“It was so lovely to meet Freddie”.

She has already asked for some sweets for when he next visits!

Lisa Mussett, Home Manager at St Peter’s Court, commented:

“It was heart-warming to see the joy that the visit brought to both Van and Freddie.”
