90th birthday celebrations at Falkirk care homeA Resident at HC-One’s Barleystone Court care home in Falkirk has celebrated her landmark birthday, as she reached 90.

Margaret  celebrated her 90th on the 12th of June with video calls, chocolates, card and presents and really made the most of the special day.

Margaret has in laws in America, so the team set up a video call so that they could congratulate her. Daughter in law Susan and nephew Colin answered and they chatted away before wishing Margaret a Happy Birthday and saying goodbye.

Barleystone Court Home Manager Karen Syme said: “Susan told me it was great to be able to see Margaret on her special day and Colin told me that all Margaret had ever wanted was to reach 90 like her mother had.”

Later in the afternoon, Margaret opened her cards and presents and particularly liked the very large box of Thornton’s chocolates from Colin. The Barleystone Court team then gathered around with other Residents at the home to sing Happy Birthday to Margaret as she was presented with not only one, but two cakes.

“I have had such a lovely day, I really enjoyed singing Happy Birthday and sharing the cake,” said Margaret.

Our Colleagues at the home really do make sure that birthdays are celebrated properly and have enjoyed coming up with intuitive ways to do so with lockdown restrictions currently still in place.

Barleystone Court Home Manager Karen Syme said: “Every birthday is special but we really make a fuss if it’s a big one.”
