90 year-old Resident celebrates her 22nd birthday90 year-old Resident of Park House, Isabella (Betty) Barclay, celebrated her 22nd birthday this month.

Betty was born on 29th February 1928 – a leap year, so has only had 22 ‘real’ birthdays despite being 90 years old.

Unfortunately, due to the ‘Beast from the East’ Betty’s relatives were unable to make it to the celebration, but her second family, HC-One’s kind team, stepped in to ensure that she still had a day to remember.

Betty attributes her long life to keeping active and surrounding herself with her wonderful family. She is always the first one to join in with the activities and always tries to encourage and support the other Residents.

She likes to keep her handbag with her at all times as she carries little mementoes of her son and his family in it and also a comb, perfume and lipstick as Betty still likes to take pride in her appearance.

When asked if she enjoyed her birthday, Betty commented:

“I want to say a huge thank you to all of the staff; they made me feel so special today. I’m going to sleep with a big smile on my face.”

Alisha Calvert, Home Manager at Park House, commented:

“We were so happy to hear that we made Betty’s birthday special, she doesn’t look a day over 22!”
