90-year-old puzzle perfectionist at Whittlesey care homeDoris Woods, a 90-year-old Resident at HC-One’s The Elms care home in Whittlesey keeps her mind active completing 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles.

Originally from Southend, Doris spent her younger days living in various locations including Singapore with her husband, David who was in the Navy before settling in Stanground with her family.

Doris has lived at The Elms for almost five years, where she has found comfort in completing intricate puzzles, she has finished eighteen jigsaws all with 1000 pieces.

Completing the puzzles has proved to be a healthy hobby, as Doris says that they keep her mind active. When she is not working on her jigsaws Doris enjoys regular visitors from her two daughters.

To commemorate Doris’ hard work the team at The Elms framed her puzzles which are now on display around the home.

Fellow Residents and staff at the home like to watch Doris work on her puzzles, sometimes offering her a helping hand to find a missing piece.

Doris Woods, a Resident at The Elms said:

“I do the puzzles to keep my mind active, a lot of people show interest especially when they see them adorning the walls in the home.”
