100 birthday candles for Durham care home ResidentDinah Bradley, a Resident at HC-One’s Melbury Court care home in Durham celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday 18th March despite restrictions imposed by COVID-19 UK outbreak.

The team at Melbury Court had organised a birthday party for Dinah’s special day with live entertainment from Elvis tribute act, Mike Memphis and lots of Dinah’s friends and family. Unfortunately, new restrictions to reduce the coronavirus outbreak meant that some of Dinah’s birthday plans had to be cancelled.

Dinah’s daughter, Rosemary and son-in-law, Aiden were given special permission to be with her as she started her day by opening cards and gifts she had received from her loved ones along with a telegram from The Queen and card and beautiful bouquet of flower from The Mayor of Durham.

Later in the day, Dinah celebrated with her fellow Residents in the lounge with music which had everyone singing and dancing. Everyone sang happy birthday to Dinah as she was presented with her cake and toasted the birthday girl with a glass of prosecco.

Dinah commented on what a lovely day she had and how appreciative she was the team had arranged for her to be able to see her daughter on her birthday.

Melbury Court Home Manager, Mandy Hurst said: “Happy Birthday to Dinah! It was a pleasure to be able to celebrate Dinah’s 100th birthday, even if we were not able to provide all of the special plans the team had arranged.”
