100 birthday candles at Glasgow care homeMary Barton, a Resident at HC-One’s Wyndford Locks care home in Glasgow celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday 14th March.

Raised on Parliamentary Road in Cowcaddens, Mary was an only child and attend St Georges Cross School. Mary met Abraham Barton at a dance with her friends, the pair fell in love and married on 14th April 1938, Abraham served in World War II for six years and the couple went on to have three sons and a daughter.

Mary enjoyed going on holidays with her family, some of her favourite destinations are Saltcoats, Blackpool, Spain, Isle of Man and Dysart in Fife.

To celebrate her special day, the team at Wyndford Locks organised a party for Mary, where she received a cake, gifts and birthday wishes. A great time was had by all, especially Mary who commented on what a wonderful day she had.  

Mary’s secret to a long life is “to work hard and be happy”. When she was asked if she could do anything what would she do, Mary said she would love to go back in time to meet and marry the same man all over again.
