Three HC-One Colleagues in Wales have been successful in being selected as winners at the Wales Care Awards 2022 by the judging panel.
The Wales Care Awards 2022 ceremony and award dinner took place on Friday 21st October 2022 at City Hall in Cardiff, where the gold, silver and bronze winners of 19 different awards were announced. The awards celebrated outstanding individuals working in the care sector who go above and beyond in their job roles to provide exceptional care. HC-One were proud to be a gold partner sponsor of the ‘The Craig Thomas Lifetime Achievement Award’ at this year’s Wales Care Awards.
HC-One’s winners at the Wales Care Awards 2022 are:
• Jacqueline Orrells, Area Director at HC-One, Gold Winner in the Leadership and Management in Residential or Nursing Care Award Category
Jacqueline supports 14 care homes across Wales in her role as Area Director. Jacqueline is a role model and demonstrates strong leadership skills, ensuring her team delivers best practice and high-quality care to Residents. She supports her team to develop their skills and advance in their careers. Jacqueline promotes and works within all the relevant professional Codes of Conduct, follows Social Care Wales Practice Guidance, keeps updated on Welsh Government Policy and legislative framework and promotes the use of Social Care Wales Codes of Professional Practice and Induction Framework within the homes she oversees.
• Katherine Shorney, Home Administrator at Church View Care Home, Silver Winner in the Commitment to Quality in Hospitality Award Category
Katherine has worked in her job role at Church View Care Home for 15 years, and over the years she has become a well-known character in the home, going above and beyond to help others around her at Church View. Katherine demonstrates outstanding work in supporting those at Church View Care Home and works hard to provide an environment where individuals can live their lives to the full in a pleasant and comfortable setting.
• Mary Baber, Care Assistant at Trafalgar Park Care Home, Bronze Winner in the Residential Care Practitioner Award Category
Mary has a ‘hands on’ approach and continually demonstrates that she works within the criteria set out in the Social Care Wales Codes of Professional Practice for Social Care Workers. Mary uses Person Centred Approaches to support Residents at Trafalgar Park Care Home to take as much control over their day-to-day life decisions as possible. She supports Residents to maintain and/or regain life skills whilst showing respect, maintaining dignity and promoting independence and personal choice.
