Three HC-One Colleagues in Wales have been shortlisted as finalists at the Wales Care Awards 2022The Wales Care Awards promote and celebrate individuals across the Wales care sector, recognising and congratulating individuals who have shown outstanding dedication and passion for delivering the highest quality of care and life for Residents. 

HC-One’s finalists for the Wales Care Awards 2022 are:

•    Katherine Shorney, Home Administrator at Church View Care Home, finalist in the Outstanding Service Award Category
Katherine has worked in her job role at Church View Care Home for 15 years, and over the years she has become a well-known character in the home, going above and beyond to help others around her at Church View. Katherine has outstanding communication skills, is trustworthy, organises her time well and shows dedication to her job. She is a massive support and help to the Home Manager, her Colleagues, Relatives, Residents and visitors to Church View Care Home and her infectious positivity often rubs off on others. 

•    Jacqueline Orrells, Area Director at HC-One, finalist in the Leadership and Management in Residential or Nursing Care Award Category

Jacqueline supports 14 care homes across Wales in her role as Area Director. She encompasses the spirit of care, a culture of support and the ethos of HC-One as the heart of kindness. She always has time for her Colleagues and invests in them by providing such a high level of support, through teaching and providing advice to them as well as encouraging them to develop in their work by learning new skills and progressing in their careers. She is always honest but fair in providing colleagues with constructive feedback. Jaqueline also ensures to promote all Government policies and practices amongst her teams and leads by example.

•    Mary Baber, Care Assistant at Trafalgar Park Care Home, finalist in the Excellence in Dementia Care Award Category
When supporting Residents living with dementia, Mary has a strong awareness and understanding of what individual triggers might lead to a Resident being agitated and she knows what measures to put in place to calm and reassure the Residents. She is extremely good at putting her knowledge into practice when required in these situations and Colleagues look up to her for her ability to support the Residents in a person-centred manner. Mary always ensures her training is up to date and she takes an active interest in always improving and keeping her skills up to date.

The Wales Care Awards 2022 are returning following a two year postponement due to COVID-19. HC-One are a gold partner sponsor of the ‘The Craig Thomas Lifetime Achievement Award’ at this year’s Wales Care Awards. The awards celebrate the very best people working in the care sector and those who go above and beyond to provide consistent exceptional care. The Wales Care Awards ceremony and award dinner will be taking place at City Hall in Cardiff on Friday 21st October 2022, when the winners will be announced across 19 different award categories.
