HC-One’s Social Care Covid Hero Award winner attends prestigious afternoon tea at the House of LordsHarrogate based HC-One COVID-19 Lead, Liz Whyte, who was recently awarded ‘The Social Care Covid Hero Award’ at the York and Humberside Region of the Great British Care Awards 2022 on Friday 11th November 2022, attended afternoon tea at The House of Lords in London following receiving a special invitation.

Liz attended ‘The Social Care Covid Heroes’ Afternoon Tea event which was held in recognition of key workers in social care who went above and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic and was held at The House of Lords, London on Tuesday 29th November 2022. The prominent social event was hosted by Lord Palmer of Childs Hill OBE who presented Liz with a bottle of champagne. The event provided a unique opportunity to recognise and meet inspirational frontline care and support workers who have demonstrated incredible resilience and acts of bravery during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as providing the opportunity to hear experiences first hand from Social Care Covid Heroes.

Guests at the event included social care leaders such as Professor Deborah Sturdy OBE, as well as inspirational frontline staff and their employers, all of whom are Great British Care Awards, Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards and Children & Young People Awards or Social Care Covid Hero winners.

Liz was selected as the winner of the York and Humberside Region of the Great British Care Awards 2022 in ‘The Social Care Covid Hero Award’ category, as judges said:

“Liz was contemplating slowing down and taking semi-retirement when Covid hit. She took on the role as Covid lead for the whole company with c.300 homes. Liz’s approach did not feel corporate, but personal. Her care and commitment for every resident, their loved ones and staff member, really shone through.”

Liz Whyte, COVID-19 Lead at HC-One commented:

“I thoroughly enjoyed myself at ‘The Social Care Covid Heroes’ Afternoon Tea event at The House of Lords. It was an honour to attend and a huge privilege to be amongst others who have made a significant difference to the lives of the people they care for in their field of work.”
