HC-One Welcomes Leading Dementia Care Expert to its Senior Team

HC-One, the leading care home provider in the UK, is delighted to be welcoming dementia specialist Professor Graham Stokes as Director of Memory Care Support Services.

Professor Stokes will join HC-One on 7th January 2018 from his current role as Global Director of Dementia Care at Bupa, in which he is responsible for leading the strategic global dementia care platform from which he has helped to elevate the quality of Bupa's dementia care across its international businesses.

Recognised as a leader in dementia care, and with an illustrious and very successful career, Professor Stokes brings significant and valuable experience to HC-One, particularly at such an important time for the organisation. Professor Stokes’ new role at HC-One will be key in contributing to the continuity and seamless integration of the 100+ Bupa care homes that will be joining the HC-One family. In addition, this appointment will also enable HC-One to enhance the care it provides to all Residents living with dementia, and will further HC-One’s aim of being the first choice care provider within each of the communities it serves.

In addition to his leading role at Bupa, Professor Stokes has been the Honorary Visiting Professor of Person-Centred Dementia Care at the University of Bradford since 2012. He is currently a member of the Government’s Challenge on Dementia 2020 Meaningful Care Task and Finish Group, as well as the Co-Chair of Dementia Action Alliance (England).

Professor Stokes’ career highlights also include chairing the Mental Health Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s Dementia Truth Inquiry, being a key member of the External Reference Group which drafted the Government’s Five Year National Dementia Strategy, and sitting on the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia Design and Implementation Group for the 2012 and 2020 strategies. He was also invited to be a representative at The G7 Global Dementia Legacy Event in Tokyo to discuss New Care and Prevention Models.

With Professor Stokes leading HC-One’s Memory Care Support Services, HC-One will continue to seek to provide the very best and kindest care across its homes and build on the 9.4 average rating on the sector’s leading care home comparison website www.carehome.co.uk.
