HC-One promotes career progression available in care with sector-leading recruitment campaignHC-One, Britain’s largest care home provider, has launched an innovative new recruitment campaign to promote the opportunities for career progression within the care sector.

The ‘Rewarding Careers’ campaign aims to attract and retain dedicated individuals to the care sector, to help overcome the ongoing recruitment and retention challenges the sector continues to face across the country.
HC-One’s campaign, which focuses on the real stories of care home staff, highlights the different routes people take into the care sector, and the opportunities available for them to progress into more senior roles.

The Colleague journeys highlighted by the campaign aim to represent a breadth of care home positions, from Care Assistants and Nurses to Chefs and Housekeeping Assistants. This includes Greenways Court Home Manager, Kinga Kowaliczek, a former beekeeper who progressed from Senior Care Assistant to award-winning Home Manager with HC-One. Also featured is Oliver Clothier, who started his career in a café on Weymouth seafront, before joining HC-One as a Head Chef and progressed to Development Chef, where he trains hundreds of chefs in HC-One care homes across England, Scotland, and Wales.

HC-One is promoting its message on buses, billboards, and radio stations across the country, to help spread its message nationwide and encourage people to consider a career in care. It has also launched a new TikTok channel, @hc_one_careers, in a bid to inspire younger generations who use the platform, with its recent video filmed at Lothian House care home in Spennymoor gaining over 130,000 views.

Since its launch in May, the campaign is already seeing positive results, with candidates from a variety of backgrounds applying for a career with HC-One.

This strong performance follows the success of HC-One’s previous recruitment campaign launched in December 2021, which promoted the £17million invested in pay and reward for care home colleagues.

John Handley, Executive Director for People at HC-One, said: “In a sector that continues to face significant workforce challenges, it is vital that employers like HC-One champion the career opportunities available in care. This is why our Rewarding Careers campaign is highlighting the incredible achievements of our Colleagues, so their stories will inspire others to consider working in a care home.

“In addition, as a leading care home provider we are dedicated to developing Colleagues’ skills and confidence by delivering award-winning learning and development opportunities, to support them on their career journeys with HC-One.”
