HC-One was delighted to be announced winners of two prestigious industry awards at the National Association of Care Catering Awards 2022, which celebrate unsung heroes in care catering and recognise their outstanding work within the sector.
The catering team from HC-One joined industry professionals for a gala awards dinner at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham as they celebrated being named Catering Team of the Year. The team were selected as the winners due to their creativity and user-centric design of food that add to Residents’ quality of life and care, while meeting the nutritional goals for modified diets.
The second award was handed to Vicky Meakin, Kitchen Manager at HC-One’s Aspen Court Care Home in Derby, who was named Catering Manager of the Year. The judges were impressed with the way Vicky supports and inspires others around her, in addition to her commitment to using Residents’ feedback to develop HC-One’s menus as she holds regular meetings and taster sessions to enable everyone to voice what food and drink they enjoy at Aspen Court.
Led by Mark Meacham, Head of Catering and Housekeeping Support Services at HC-One, the team were pleased that their efforts were recognised amongst tough competition in the awards. This recognition comes as HC-One continues to invest in its recruitment and retention of talented catering professionals across its family of care homes, by providing enhanced rates of pay, sociable working hours and sector-leading training, including regular Chef Development Days, online workshops and learning tools designed to empower Colleagues.
Mark Meacham, Head of Catering and Housekeeping Support Services at HC-One, said:
“I am delighted that Vicky and the Catering and Housekeeping team at HC-One have been chosen as the winners by the judging panel at the National Association of Care Catering Awards 2022.
